Blush Away The Hot Way!

For that instant rosy, healthy look we all need every day, make-up manufacturers created blush. But it takes skill and technique to get the best effect from that magical item in your make-up kit. Renee shares her tips on how to make your look utterly perfect with the right application of blush-on.

Choose the Right Color

Choose the Right Color

The color of the blush you’ll be using on your face should match your skin tone. To check what color you should put on, pinch your cheeks a little and see the resulting color. That is what the color of your blush should be. Usually, pinks look nice on the fair-skinned, peach in those with an olive complexion, and shades in orange for the dark-skinned.

Powder or Cream Blush?

The kind of blush is also important for different skin types. If you’ve got dry skin, cream-based blushes help make your skin glowier without the dry effect that powdered blushes may create. But if oily skin is what you’ve got, a powder-based formula will be more effective on your skin type. So keep this mind when checking out blushes.

Start Off with a Good Base

Blush should be applied right at the end of your make-up routine, i.e., after you’ve done your eyes, lips and everything. And the key to a perfect make-up and not just the perfect blush? A good, well-applied base! Make sure your make-up base is not cakey or too heavy and that it preserves the natural texture of your skin to make not just your blush-on, but all other make-up elements stand out.

Work it up in a Well-Lit Space

Work it up in a well lit Space

Wherever you apply your blush, make sure the area has been lit well. This is to avoid excessive application that would totally set you up to look like a clown! But by well-lit we don’t mean your face should be shining up with all the light – it should be the right amount of light to adequately show your face and the colors you’re putting on it.

Use the Right Brush

You must have gotten a mini finger-sized brush with your blush kit. But may we suggest you should not be using it? Invest in a proper, professional blusher brush. These ensure ample application of the color on your skin and you don’t end up concentrating on a single area only.

Smile to Identify the Apples of your Cheeks

But don’t smile too much as this can lift up your cheeks and spoil the positioning of the blush. Smile gently; the apples of your cheek will become prominent. Then apply strokes in one direction along the apples of your cheek.

Blend, Blend Blend!

Blend well - Blotchy Blush is a Big No

There can be nothing more unbecoming on a face than a blotchy blush. Make blending your essential make-up routine, not just for a blush, but for other make-up areas as well, such as the eyes.

With these tips, make your skin literally glow with the right blush-on application.
