Policing The Police – The $250,000 Nail Polish That Made Osbourne Apologize
It’s all over the news and it has many fashion aficionados either gaping or frowning with fury. Kelly Osbourne, the co-host of Fashion Police, committed a unique crime on Fashion Street – a manicure with a bottle costing $250,000!!
The nail polish is a brand of the renowned jewelry designer Azature, and contains 267 carats of black diamonds – quite a fortune to be carrying on one’s nails. Indeed, Azature has taken luxury to the next new level.
Osbourne happily sported the nail colour at the Emmys this year, tweeting evidently in excitement before the event:
About to get a $250k manicure w nail polish made w blk diamonds made by @azature so excited & honored but absolutely shitting myself to havs that much money on my nails!
But a furor of angry comments by readers, some reminding that the price tag of her nail polish could be enough to feed several in a third world country, or to buy an entire house, prompted Osbourne to rethink the wisdom of bragging about what she might have assumed to be a fashion hit.
It’s quite something to get the fashion police to admit her own fashion faux pas. Shortly afterwards, the Fashion Police co-host tweeted:
I see that my nail polish has offended some of you, however I see your point, but it was a once in a lifetime experience. And please forgive me for not regretting it, it made me feel like a queen!
Even a queen may not be able to afford such fashion luxury in these times of recession, Kelly. But hey, let’s cut the celebrity some slack. After all, not many of us would have refused to being pampered with such a manicure since Osbourne was selected by the creator of the godly nail color as a part of their branding and marketing efforts. She tweeted later:
I was just lucky enough to be the one that got picked to wear it.
Was this really a fashion faux pas for which Osbourne had to apologize or just someone getting excited over the opportunity to get seriously, lavishly pampered? Wouldn’t many of us might have jumped ourselves to get black diamonds on our nails for free? What do you think?
